Should Russians ethnicly be considered in their own slavic group like North slavs?

It is a large country and much of it was colonized by ethnic Russians (Siberia, the far east etc), who are Slavs - East Slavs. Like all Slavic peoples, they are influenced by other peoples around them, but they are still Slavs.

Most Russians don't even look Slavic. They do have that Slavic depressed look on their faces.

No, I just wonder why they never smile. That's one thing about Lithuanians. They're always smiling. Slavs.... not so much.

Well Russians were the only Slavs to conquer non-Slavic peoples, so yes, they are distinct in that history. All the other Slavs were either being conquered by Turks (Yugoslavs) or used as a wedge between the Germans and Russians (Poles).

They are a Eurasian nation making them a unique subset of Slavs therefore.

The Balkans were conquered by Slavs in 5th, 6th centuries
