as some people read my posts sometimes there are quite a lot of Russian smartphone manufacturers. So i will post smartphones which are made by russian companies obviously there are still made in china but so is iphone and samsung.
At least russians have an option to buy smartphones by russian companies if you live in russia, on the other hand here in germany or anywhere in other europe, best selling smartphones are LG and Samsung so we give koreans our hard earned money. In general europe failed at establishing consumer electronics like smartphones or consoles. Only alcotel (france), nokia (finland) are the only european smartphone manufacturers outside of russia, sony erricson used to be a joint venture but it is japanese now as sony bought the mobil phone segment. So i will show westerners how much developed in russia and also to russians as kind of recomandation if they care about buying russian products.
the categories, this just my assumption of the different products, i cant be sure to 100% as i am not so good at russian and basically checked their sites, used google translate and so on.
Smartphones by Russian companies who are designed by them.
1. Texet
Texet is a company located in saint pertersburg, they also release tablets.
2. Explay
3. Highscreen from Vobis.ru
Vobis.ru is a russian hardware retailer who was the first retailer selling chinese smartphones like htc then rebranding the chinese designed phones to sell them under their name but is now transitioning into developing their own brand called highscreen, they bought up a south east asian company who specificly designes for the CIS. This what they say
http://translate.google.com/translat...his%2F&act=url
The company "Vobis Computer" was founded in March 2000 as a Russian subsidiary of a leading European network for the sale of high-tech products "Vobis Netvork" (division METRO Cash & Carry Group). In 2004, the Russian subsidiary of the Company are divided into separate independent company with a Russian owner and entirely Russian control.
The second current direction of the company - the development of the product line of its own brand of mobile electronics Highscreen. Now the brand is actively developing in two directions: smart phones and data acquisition (see below). So obviously the brand and technology is in russian hands. Unlike other two i mentioned highscreen clearly says they are a russian company and design their own brands now for the CIS. Its probably confusing for a lot as they previously sold chinese rebrandings and are still a computer retailer. As you can see the company belonged to vobis.de computer in germany until both broke up. Its quite also an interesting example how from selling chinese products not made by them now making their own smartphones which shows a unique reserve example, there are many opposite examples in many european countries outsourcing technology to asia. Finally, a real bestseller fall 2012 was a series of smartphones Highscreen Alpha. Alpha GTR - the first officially supplied to Russia smartphone with two SIM-cards, dual-core gigahertz processor and HD-screen TVs.
In 2012, the company "Vobis Computer" came to the conclusion that to compete in the same market of similar products, often represented by two or more different brands, it is becoming harder and harder. It was decided to move from the classical model of OEM distribution for independent development of devices. In the spring of 2012 "Vobis Computer" radically changed the model of development of own brand. Starting from the smartphone Highscreen Yummy Duo company orders in the leading design company in South-East Asia with the unique specifications of the device, no analogs among the products of Russian umbrella brands. Experts of the company is actively involved in the development of the program and, most importantly, the hardware of smartphones. Due to such a transition from the classical model of OEM branding Chinese products ready for delivery devices created by the unique specifications, the very first smartphones Highscreen Alpha essentially "blew up" the market. Since the introduction of smart phones in the series there is a sharp increase in consumer interest in the brand Highscreen (jump immediately three times - see the diagram of search queries in the "Yandex").
The company plans to follow the chosen course, offering consumers the CIS unit of its own design with unique hardware features, not "perebrendirovannye" finished products of Chinese factories.
At the end of 2012 Highscreen devices are well represented in the largest federal electronics retailers.
Warranty service will be provided on a "European" model: in the box with every gadget Highscreen is a free pass for shipping the unit to the main service center courier "Post of Russia". All transportation costs (in case of warranty) takes over the company. Thus, we can say that the service center is Highscreen anywhere within the Russian Federation, which is the separation of "Post of Russia", with the level of service is guaranteed to be high.
Smartphones by Russian companies who are designed by them and are also releasing their phones not only in Russia but also in the West.
1 Yota
Everyone heard about Yota, they want to release an E-Ink and Smartphone in one device and are obviously very innovative in their job and praised by the media. It was also the first time the western press came into connection with the russian smartphone market. It shows how less the west knows about russia, if you knew the country better like i do you would already know all these smartphones i mention here. It is probably the only russian smartphone being released in the west in the next time, and it speaks for itself.
Smartphones by non Russian companies who are probably designed by them for Russia and the CIS.
1. FLY
Fly is a company who has its headquarter in London UK, why? Who knows maybe because of putin and other russophobic perceptange in the bussinesworld. It seems they design their own products by russians and only for CIS countries. Thats right they might sit in london but never released one of their phones in UK. So its up to you to decide what makes them russian. For British this might be interesting for you to consider importing one from russian sites. Its your only smartphone manufacturer in your country who ironically doesnt sell its phones in your country But if you might buy some they consider. Since smartphones using now usb connection as charging you can switch the end of the cable with some of your brisish electric plugs to usb connection, but i would still ask somewhere if its possible because of different hertz electric signals and so on. http://www.cites.illinois.edu/networ..._frequency.png
Smartphones by Russian companies who rebrand other models of phones designed by non Russian companies.
This is quite a bit complicated they are russian companies but they take a chinese design for example and sell it under their name. Suprisengly all of them are mobile network operators. Other than in many other countries who are dominated by British companies like Vodafone or O2 often times, the russian market is dominated by russian companies and they even expanding in other countries like india showing a segment in russia which is successful without natural resources.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...ian_Federation
The same mobil services rebrand other smartphones. I think its not that bad to buy as they as they get more successful they will probably also develop their own designs like highscreen did. Its still better than having pure korean phones made in china imo, going into mostly into korean pockets.
1. MegaFon
MegaFon released its first smartphone the MegaFon Mint. Its one of the first smartphones having an intel processor being high end. So for everyone who wants the best of the best and wants russian phone its very interesting. Its a rebrand of an intel phone. Orange a french company for example has the exact same design and so does some indian company.
2. 3. MTS and Beeline
Beeline and MTS are the least interesting. Both have used a lot of chinese designs like from ZTE. MTS however was the first who released a glonass model also designed by chinese i think. MTS also has now an indian subsidery who is owned by them designing smartphones for the indian and russian market so might can be considred into first category i dont know.
Smartphones by Russian Government and in the future Russian companies who are designed and made in Russia not china
So this quite a controversial phone, basically the government tries to make a smartphone as well as tablet for its military to keep their information silent from americans and chinese. So obviously it must be made not only in russia but also it must have an own OS not from Google. It has a customized Andoid OS witch is programmed that way that google cant spy on you and other configurations.
Russia plans to release the phone later for consumer market as well. It was designed by russians but the prototype was first made in taiwan as russia hasnt any experience yet to make such devices. But it will be produced completely in russia (all others are i mentioned here are probably made in china) building the first kind of industry of its kind in russia. The phone quite shows the hypocrisy of anti putiners who say its a waste of taxpayer money. If the government doesnt do anything for modernization they blame the government for not doing anything. If it does something they say its a waste of tax money
Smartphones by Koreans who do like they are Russian to trick you into buying them and other examples
Ritmix is an obvious tricky company who markets their products as russian but is pure korean.
Another example is Hannspree
http://www.hannspree.eu/about-us
Its a Taiwanese company specializing at selling in europe. They name them selfs a weird name that sounds like some german or english famaly name in order you think its a european company.
So they chose extra this weird combination in order to deceive you as they only market their products in europe. The name, Hannspree, derived from an idea to combine the company’s Asian roots with its international future. ‘Hann’ is the Chinese word for universal. ‘Spree’ is an English word that means an outburst of fun activity. The marriage of the two words perfectly reflects the company’s vision and philosophy, to create and inspire ‘Universal fun’.
here is a list of smartphones reviewed by russians there you can check them out, you can also choose english language on the site itself but it wont show every phone especially only released in russia.
http://translate.googleusercontent.c...IJdUVnA#Explay
this is also another interesting list it shows which devices are using russian glonass technology which is the main competitor of gps. Since many use snapdragon many can use both glonass and gps having better singal. Since russian phones arent released in US they have not listed any so i dont know which russian phone support glonass.
