It is more socially acceptable to make fun of the poor working class, rural whites than other groups, but we rednecks really don't care and tend to make a lot of self depreciating jokes, for example, the Blue Collar Comedy Tour was very popular.

Maybe rednecks are just more emotionally secure, and don't mind poking fun of ourselves more than all other US demographics, so we don't raise a fuss... Even many middle class whites seem to have self esteem issues, worrying more about how something appears over functionality. Stainless steal cookware is an example, who really wants to obsessively wipe & clean pots and pans besides people who follow trends?

Well to me there is a big difference between hardworking poor class (I suppose anyone who has to work more than one job to get by etc, etc)

People also make fun of 'hillbillies', a group that gets confused with rednecks at times. In the modern world people mock authentic culture when they are confronted with it. Not that 'white trash' is a culture.

Poor rural whites are mocked and ridiculed by other whites and by minorities. Yes, it is to some degree classist or racist, depending on the source.

I also do it, and I acknowledge being classist in many ways, but I also wear the rural white part of my heritage like a badge of honor. I certainly claim that culture over limp wristed urban hipster fucks.

White Trash are poor white folks are the ones that usually show up on COPS (the show).

Do not confuse them with Rednecks....although I am not a Redneck, I know a few who have done quite well for themselves. Actually very well....but they are rednecks.

White Trash are those that usually have below average IQ, and in addition are too ignorant (brought up that way, I guess) to know how to help themselves. They sometimes live in filth, and do not make it a priority to educate their children....the cycle continues.

I bet Jay Leno would show a picture of my car on his show... the vacuum hose system is shot, so the heat only blows out the front... so I cut a piece of plywood, drilled two holes in it, put it in nice & snug in the front vent and ran a couple flexible hoses from it over my dashboard so I could have defrost for the winter.
