I tested both my parents as soon as 23andme dropped their price, and I was quite shocked to find that my dad shares the same general mtDNA haplgroup as my mom and I.

I guess it seemed especially surprising because my two grandmothers come from very different ethnic groups. My paternal grandmother was an ethnic Slovene, while my maternal grandmother is a colonial American of British Isles descent.

I ran Dad's results and mine through James Lick's mtHap utility, and there are some sight differences, but we're both H2a2a1 (eat your heart out alfieb!).

Anyone else experience anything like this?
