Bosniak from Germany obsessed with Serbs who cry every day how Bosniaks are Muslim Serbs who have became Bosniaks because Orthodox Serbs did not accept them. His nick means "I speak Serbian." He opens almost every day topics about Bosnia and Serbian-Bosniak relations on Serbian forum Krstarica.

Muslim/Bosniak family Beširević from western Bosnia which was part of local Muslim elite in the Ottoman time claim origin from Stojan Janković (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stojan_Janković). During the captivity in Istanbul Stojan Janković allegedly converted to Islam, married with some rich girl and had two sons with her. Stojan Janković returned/fled to Dalmatia, and later sultan sent his two Muslim sons to Bosnia. One was founder of family Beširević and other of family Hodžić.


Stojan Janković was really captured and taken away in Istanbul where he spent 14 months, but there is no historical sources that he converted to Islam and married there. According to one folk epic song he converted to Islam and married in Istanbul, and his stay there lasted 9 years and 7 months (not 14 months as in reality). Anyway it is unusual that Bosnian Muslim family claim origin from Stojan Janković, because he is a hated personality in the collective consciousness pf the Bosnian Muslims. Stojan Janković with his uskoks made incursions into Bosnia and killed, robbed , captured Muslims and destroying their property (local Christian went with him to Dalmatia on Venetian territory due to fear of Ottoman retaliation). There are many stories and folk songs of Bosnian Muslims where Stojan Janković is portrayed as a villain.

According to other legend of family Beširević they originated from Anatolia.

Family Beširević is from most western part of Bosnia know as Cazinska Krajina (Bosniensis is from there ). Among Cazinska Krajina Muslims claim of Anatolian origin was quite common in the past. According to researches of ethnologists from late 19th and first half of 20th century about 40% of Cazinska Krajina Muslim families claimed Anatolian origin. Modern genetic researches say it was heavy exaggeration, haplotypes which most likely have Anatolian origin from Ottoman period exist in small percentages among Cazinska Krajina Muslims. Balkan Muslims especially their elite often in the past claimed/invented Anatolian origin, because it was more prestigious for them to be descendants of real Turks than ordinary native convert.
Btw Cazinska Krajina Muslims the least poisoned with hatred towards Serbs on average inside of Bosniak nation, and the most anti-Serbian ones are from eastern Bosnia.

As you well know Varda, the ethnic and religious identity was confused in the Ottoman times in our regions (na nasim prostorima) and some people used abusively the concept of Turk for any Muslim... Hence some people were making up stories about "prestigious" Turkish ancestry (especially for local aristocracy - "begovi"); while it was mostly just local conversion.

Thank God it has been more than a decade now that population genetics are debunking this kind of myths: Turkish contribution among Bosnian Muslims, Albanians being from "Caucasus", my people being Bosnians...

From what I've seen is 20-40% native. Not necessary Illyrian, some of it looks Dacian like. I am curious in his case because he thinks he think he's Illyrian because he's swarthy lol
