Are Bulgarians Southern or Eastern Europeans?

Phenotypically, mentally and culturally speaking. I'm curious what do people think. Poll added.

Phenotypically, both, but more of the Eastern side.
Mentally, they are more Balkan than South or Eastern.
Culturally, I can't say, because I m not very familiar with the Bulgarian culture.

But what they feel is more important, I guess. If the feel more Eastern or more Southern, then that's what they are.
