After being crushed in two world wars and then being a defacto Soviet republic, they are a defeated nation, much like the Germans.

States and nations can only live as long as they have aspirations and ambitions. Even Germany is in a process of rehabilitation of her state and nation, to become normal again. In Berlin they are rebuilding or restoring the old Prussian castles, palaces and relics. It's been 30 years Communism is over now, a guy being 20 back then is now an ageing 50 years old. And with the younger generations, the memories (like having been castrated) is forgotten and the collective spirit resulting from the normal human nature prevails again. Meaning ambitions, aspirations. Now, Bulgarians look at the map, they look at history. What do they see?
Greeks stole Western Thrace. Serbs stole Skopje-Bitola-Ohrid region (Fyrom), Romanians annexing Dobrugea.

Bulgarians will ultimately and unavoidable try to fix these issues and rectify those mistakes. Like they did in WWI by joining Turks and storming the treacherous Serbs occupying Macedonia. Bulgarian armies even fought the British and French for the sake of protecting possessions in Macedonia, while in the north clashing against Romanians and Russians to protect their hold in Dobrugea.

Old Bulgars, the Tugluk clan leading them (or ''Dulo'' as Slavs spell) are details. Bulgaria is a state on her own, maybe the oldest in modern Europe with France. Bulgarian state is different than the state of Turkey, with everything different from culture, religion, history to Slavic language.

It is not difficult to guess how they were devastated in Sofia when Greece and hoax state of Fyrom solved their differences and normalized their ties. Not to mention Serbs and Romanians being positive to such Greek led projects and hating on Bulgaria. Bulgaria was capitalizing on the lack of recognition of Fyrom. Now as Fyrom is getting recognized, Bulgaria is losing hope to recover.
Bulgarian policy makers shall know where the solution lies and whom they need to work with.

We are enemies only because you want it. You are twisting our history and you ally with your colonizers and biggest enemies of the Bulgarian state - the Serbians. As you seen from my first posts I was way more friendly towards you. Then I saw the true face of most Macedonians. I saw it here and also watched some videos of your pseudo-historian Mario and read the comments. All Macedonian comments that mention Bulgaria are hateful. I thought the most of you have better opinion about us because of our commonalities, but that's not the case. The majority are calling us Tatars, saying that Thracian Bulgarians are Macedonians, saying that we steal your history and so on. As Khan Krum said to his future drinking cup - "Като не щеш мира, на ти секира!"
