Bulgaria is defending its history and will not compromise with it even for a newly hatched country, which owes much of its existence to Bulgaria.
Northern Macedonia and the northern Macedonians will not appropriate a part of Bulgarian history and the Bulgarian heroes who died to be free today. There is no Macedonian history since the death of Alexander the Great. But with this people and this ancient state, today's Northern Macedonia and the people who live there have nothing in common. Today's Skopje has been able to build an independent history of its state only since 1991, before that it had a common history as part of Yugoslavia with all Yugoslav republics. With Bulgaria, as part of the Bulgarian state and the Bulgarian people, they have no desire to recognize and thus lose almost 1400 years of history.
It doesn't matter if they hate us for defending our own. And so for more than 70 years they were fed with hatred towards the Bulgarians. Feed a dog to bark at you - so say the old Bulgarians. Maybe we should stop feeding him and helping.

What I see here are Bulgarians doing to Macedonians the same thing for what they accuse Serbs. They are refusing to accept that Macedonians are separated ethnicity.

Serbs have no claims for Macedonia. You did enough in the late 19th century and pretty much the entirety of 20th century. Macedonians can have their separated country and ethnicity. I'm no one to say how they should call themselves or decide their own fate. I said that many times. The problem arises when they call us Tatars, taught by some dogs. The problem gets bigger when they claim Bulgarian history as Macedonian. Example - tsar Samuil. There is a statue of him in the center of Skopje calling him "tsar of Macedonia". How is he tsar of Macedonia? You like to point fingers and defend Macedonians. Cool. Explain how Samuil is Macedonian and how his kingdom was not Bulgarian, but Macedonian
