Russia delivers aid for Syrian refugees in Lebanon

BEIRUT: A Russian cargo plane carrying tons of humanitarian aid arrived at Beirut’s Rafik Hariri International Airport Wednesday.

The Ilyushin Il-76 plane, which arrived at 1:00 p.m., was carrying food, furniture and other items for hundreds of Syrian refugees in Lebanon who have yet to register their names with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Donations from Moscow were transferred from the Russian ambassador to Lebanon, Alexander Zaspikin, to the president of the High Relief Committee, Ibrahim Bashir, at the airport.

Russian officials told The Daily Star that three other cargo planes carrying humanitarian aid will arrive later this month.

As corrupt as Putin's Russia maybe regarding domestic policies, I am greatly supportive of his international and foreign actions.
