they do look close to us,i mean i can see many of those faces as alboz while you still have those slavic ones popping up
but probably herzegovinians and montenegrins are alot closer since those were historically also places where many alboz lived

I admit I am guilty of generally seeing Dalmatians as Swarthy Croats, I may have to reconsider it.

Tonsor (our Albanian master troll member) told me while he was living in Norway his neighbours at that time who visited Split were surprised how people look Northern there (probably he meant to say when you take in consideration how southern they live). The next he told me is that he does not believe that hehe

Bear in mind, many people go to Dalmatia in the summer for the beach, and during that time most people are "swarthied up", so wrong impressions can occur.

Well yeah they really like the Sun. Some like to compete who get the most tan during the summer. It is the mentality of a people there. It is not unusual to go to solarium way before summer to be up to speed.

Are the Dalmatians mixed with Italians?

There are probably some who are mixed since during history some Italians went back to Italy and other assimilated and there is still not so small Italian community in Dalmatia, but overall not as much as in Istria.
Anyway Italians are cool.

Herzegovinians are this the oldest europeans, they have I2a2 haplogroup.
