In eathqake 1667 half of Dubrovnik population died. Dubrovnik got a lot of new inhabitants from Popovo Polje and Trebinje in the next decades. Even for centuries before earthquake people from Trebinje and Popovo Polje coming to Dubrovnik. New shtokavian iyekavian came to Dubrovnik with them.
Only speech which existed in Dubrovnik before new shtokavian iyekavian and some period together with this speech was Dalmato-Romance language.
