You mean on the champions league groups? That depends on the draw.

As for the team, under the right coach it can be a good team. In the end of next season i expect Patético to come and spend millions again and take two or three players.

Portuguese are VERY good selling mediocre players, or at least not top at all for a lot of moneyz (Di María, Militao, Pepe, Jackson Martínez, James...).

The ones you listed were all very good when they were sold but there are some examples of ridiculous sells indeed.

In the champions league all depends on the luck of the draw for non-seeded clubs. Then anything is possible as you can see with Lyon this year.

On the paper Benfica has had more or less good*** teams the last years. With good teams I mean it had good players (more or less again). And Benfica was in VERY EASY groups in CL.
And failed miserably. It was expelled by 2nd or 3rd class clubs (Shaktar Donetsks and craps of that style).

I lost my faith in Benfica, sorry.

This season our group was easy on paper. But it turn out not to be (look where Leipzig and Lyon are).
Also our team proved to be no as good as most people thought, judging by the way we lost the league.

Next season, we will see. So far the signings are looking good. The coach is also good.

Jorge Jesus maybe? well if he is, then you will have a chance, at least for the national liga.
The problem is not being able to remain the stars. And this will continue being a problem for the next 200 years if you dont change your politic.

Di Maria is a top player. Real never gave him respect he deserved.
