Many people predict that by 2050 Bulgarians will become a minority in their own country and Bulgaria will be the first Roma state on the Balkans. We are becoming so overrun with gypsies that instead of simply Roma neighborhoods there is now becoming pure Roma villages where the gypsies are the majority.
I think i know the situation here slightly better than you. It seems that you are brainwashed with this stupid propaganda that Bulgaria will have majority gypsy population in 2050 lol. This can't happen even if Bulgarian women stop producing kids. Not to mention that most of the roma children die in very early age (those who survive don't reach 40 years most of the time).

I live in the 4th biggest city in Bulgaria and you can't see gypsies on the street.

is true that gipsy in bulgaria now are a bit more than some years ago , at least according to the data
but is also true that many of them left bulgaria for western europe and except some villages i see the situation in bg with non-bulgarian people is much better than most of western europe , here in north italy is worst for example, i sometimes go on bus and even on full bus there are 2 or 3 italians and all the other are non-italians and i live in a city not village, and not to mention for germany england holland ecc ecc...

    Hmm..

What do Bulgarians think about planned or gated communities in Bulgaria? Where only Bulgarians are allowed to live among each other without gypsies. Any gypsy that enters would be arrested and brought in for questioning.

Great idea. You guys should put barbed wire on the gates and give AK47s and dogs to the guards.

Interesting enough, Sofia the Bulgarian capital has the lowest number of gypsies percentage wise. Only a mere 17,885 out of the 1,170,842 population. They are dividing amongst themselves in the outskirts or the more abandoned towns throughout the country. The city of Montana in Northwestern Bulgaria is a good example of this. I've talked with a few Bulgarians from there and a few others that know its situation and they say the city is basically a ghost town for Bulgarians and a disproportionate and growing gypsy population.

Another thing I don't understand is why Bulgaria's birthrate has remained so low when it is one of the poorest EU countries. Poor and developing countries always have high birth rates (Albania, Somalia, Nigeria). I think it's because the majority of the young population are relatively well educated and are eagerly seeking work abroad. Another reason could be that a big part of the population are pensioners (people 65 + years old)

Isn't Bulgaria the country where the Gypsies are most segregated from the general population? I don't think I've ever spoken with a Gypsy, except when they approach me on the street asking for money.
