I only wear glasses for night time driving. It's a pretty light prescription.

That's when I found mine most useful as well. But I would wear them while watching movies, gaming etc just to have everything crystal clear. I was obsessed.
I guess you can get prescriptions that give you better than perfect vision now as well if you ask for it. I had a friendly Asian opthamologist offer to make me some lenses like that.

I switch between glasses and lenses. I usually go through phases.
Left eye: - 1.5
Right eye: - 4
The right eye is weaker than the left and there is a noticable difference between thickness of the lenses in the glasses. My one eye looks smaller than the other. Still better than my mom who has -5 in left eye and -9 in right eye.
I also have macular degeneration in my right eye which is stable now and not getting worse.

And also lattice degeneration heading for retinal detachement for which I had laser photocoagulation surgery about 2 weeks ago. An experience I NEVER want to repeat again. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lattice_degeneration
And to top it all off, I have a cataract in the right eye!
I asked the doctor about the corrective surgery for vision but am apparently not a candidate because of the big difference in vision between the left and right eye, and I will also have to go for a lens replacement at some stage when the cataract gets worse.

I have worn glasses for 43 years. I have artificial lenses in both eyes owing to cataract surgery. The older lens has considerable astigmatism, the newer one, much less. They have improved. My glasses correct my vision in both eyes to 20/20. Appropriately for my profession, I have always worn "horn-rimmed" glasses which give me a professorial air.
I cannot even imagine sticking lenses behind my eye-lids {shudder}. My friends who use contact lenses are always complaining about losing them [I never lose my spectacles] or forgetting to take them out and awakening with blurred vision. What an infernal nuisance !
And all for the sake of vanity !

I have myopia and astigmatism in both eyes, though my left eye is far worse than my right. I try to not wear my glasses too much because I don't want to become dependent on them... I recently got them. I wear glasses while driving, taking photos, and birdwatching.
