I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Dave Greenfield (the keyboardist in the English band The Stranglers.)

He was the difference between The Stranglers and every other punk band.

His musical skill and gentle nature gave an interesting twist to the band.

The Stranglers are an English rock band from south-east England who emerged via the punk rock scene. Scoring some 23 UK top 40 singles and 17 UK top 40 albums to date in a career spanning four decades, the Stranglers are one of the longest-surviving and most "continuously successful" bands to have originated in the UK punk scene.

David Paul Greenfield (29th March 1949 – 3rd May 2020) was an English keyboardist, singer and songwriter who was a member of rock band The Stranglers.

He died aged 71 after a prolonged stay in hospital for heart problems, during which he tested positive for Covid-19. It doesn't state whether he died with or directly from (as a result of) the coronavirus... so we don't know if the coronavirus itself caused his death, or whether it was due to having heart problems.

But he'll be counted amongst the statistics as a coronavirus death.
