Powerful explosion rocks central Prague, up to 55 injured (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Up to 55 people have been injured, four critically, after a massive blast damaged a building in the center of the Czech capital Prague, local media report. Rescuers are searching for survivors in the rubble.

The majority of injuries are said to be minor wounds like scratches, bruises and abrasions.

Police say the explosion occurred at around 9:56 a.m. local time on Divadelni Street. An initial investigation suggests it was caused by a leaking gas pipe. The area is currently covered with rubble, and has been cordoned off.

now really, calm down. neglected maintenance of gas-based apparatures is problem in both czech republic and slovakia.

edit: this is already 3rd or 4th recent gas explosion in our countries, nothing new.
