I have appreciation for anyone who appreciates Jean Richie.

I always loved me some Johnny Cash but I happened to have somehow found Jean Richie before I even knew he covered her, let alone knew that I have some Appalachian blood. She had many good songs, here is one, though I suspect this is one of her songs that are "old Appalachian" songs, which are actually really old hymns we probably brought over from the Isles, or even before, who knows.

As for the Milhaud, my opinion is that jazz is to be used sparingly to maximize its beauty, past the first 4 minutes or so, this is really too much for me. I really like it when when they include the score though.

I like things that are melodically hypnotizing, no matter what genre really. Not to insult your music at all, just giving my own personal impressions if that's okay. Thanks for sharing

People have distinct music tastes so no insult taken. I often shrug my shoulders at what others like and people look at me strangely over some of the music I hold near and dear.

Michelle Shocked has a very checkered history. She sued a record label for "slavery" which doesn't help anything. She had a legitimate complaint that she handled in the worst way She also goes around and tries to keep everything off the internet except her own website where she sells her music for exorbitant prices. This is really a shame since she has tanked her own legacy. There is more baggage in her controversial and contradictory statements and lyrics as well.

However, I did find her "Short Sharp Shocked" online...for now.
