George Michael (who died 25th December, 2016.)
A very recent news report showed George Michael is currently in the UK no.1 position for record-sales and album sales this year, topping all the other artists album releases for this year in the UK, following his death last xmas. He learned to play the violin as a child at his schools in England. His English mother (who George was very close to) was a dancer, and his father was Greek.
Not usually the type of music I listen to, but I like his sensual and beautiful singing voice.
I don't like artists due to their celeb-status, popularity, or record-sales;- but for their music, lyrics, songs, artistic talent, originality, creativity, etc.
(Harry Styles is in the second UK position for album sales at the moment, following the release of his overly-advertised album - but I find him so unoriginal, very dull, utterly boring, extremely mediocre and bland. I'm not liking George's songs due to him being in the top position in the UK at the moment... but because I have always genuinely liked his singing voice. Harry Styles' album has received way too much publicity from his PR team and record company, and I can't stand Harry Styles or One Direction as there's no creativity or beauty in the sounds to their so-called 'music'.)
(I'm so sick-to-death of seeing the overly-rated and overly-publicised faces of the dull men from 1D. Their boring style and bland images are shoved into our faces every day by the mainstream media, even though they're nothing special. They're just yet another very disappointing and cheesy boy-band with horrible bleepy and flat 'sounds' to their so-called, uh, 'music'.... no beautiful guitar solos, no creative and beautiful musical sounds, no unique talent, no inspirational lyrics, no breathtaking and mesmerising singing voices, no artistic originality, etc.)
(Most of the popular 'celeb-singers' at the moment make a lot of tacky porn-style 'music' videos in order to sell their low quality of 'music' to people;- talented singers and great musicians don't need to show their tits and arse in order to make and sell amazing music, but musically-talentless people who can't sing resort to copying Miley Cyrus in order to sell records - who is yet another talentless 'singer' with no impressive singing voice.)
(Mass popularity with kids and teens doesn't necessarily mean Justin Bieber and One Direction's so-called music, bland singing, dull lyrics, etc, are of a high artistic quality that will make them as artistic legends who'll be remembered and celebrated 50 years from now, like The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Guns n Roses, Black Sabbath, The Eagles, The Rolling Stones, etc... all of whom are from the Golden Age of Music. Nor will Justin B. and 1D inspire many generations of musicians and artists for decades to come in the future - as there's absolutely nothing original, nor creative and artistic about them. They haven't contributed nor done anything for music.)
(There's very tacky One Direction stores in cities in many nations now selling 1D merchandise in the stores;- which goes to show that 1D aren't about music but are only interested in selling and making money. 1D are the type of talentless and money-grabbing opportunists who would sell their 'songs', their non-musical merchandise, and would sell their souls in TV commercials for aftershaves, trainers, etc.)
(It's well-known that Jim Morrison went ballistic and threw a TV out of a window inside a music studio in LA in anger, and threatened to sue and threatened he would smash-up a Buick car with a sledgehammer on stage if their car company ever used the song 'Light My Fire' in a TV commerical. Jim returned to the music studio and discovered that the other Doors members had agreed to it behind Jim's back while he was away for a short while staying in London with his girlfriend Pamela, after the band had finished their awesome performances in Europe. The guitarist Robby can be seen with a black eye on The Smother Brothers show after Jim was said to have got into a fight with him in December of that same year, before Jim suddenly gained weight 3 months later in March during the Miami concert.)
(The band had an agreement between all four members of 'one for all and all for one...' so if any single band member of The Doors disagreed with a decision, the rest of the band all went along with it - and they wouldn't do anything unless all four band members agreed to it... so Jim felt betrayed by his bandmates after that.)
(He was said to become distant to the other members in the band after that incident and the trust was lost and never the same again. Jim then drank more and gained weight after the incident and he accused the other band members of 'making a deal with the devil for money.' )
(The car company eventually backed-down and didn't use the song 'Light My Fire' in their car commercial after Jim continued to phone them and threatened them what would happen if they went ahead and had offered to pay the other band members to use the song in a car commerical. Jim Morrison didn't care about the money offer, but wanted to protect his music, poetry, singing and the passion for his art from being misused in a tacky TV commercial.)
Bands like The Doors and Pink Floyd were treated meanly in the mainstream media and didn't get as much coverage and radio-play as the more politically-correct and conformist music bands. 'Another Brick In The Wall' by Pink Floyd reached no.1 in the UK music charts at the time of its release... but was censored by Thatcher for being politically-incorrect.
(An analogy of the big cheese-fest music industry can be made with KFC.... sure, it's cheap, simple, bland, basic, and quick and easy to make and produce... and it sells with masses of ordinary people who don't know haute-cuisine and who've never experienced anything else in life to know anything better (especially with teens and kids,) - but it's still low-quality and mass-produced junk, no matter how much it's promoted and adveritised and sells with the ordinary people.... like Miley Cyrus whose singing is c-rap... and also like all the bland clones of boy bands and girl bands within the mainstream pop industry.)
(I think One Direction and Harry Styles and Justin B. etc, are cringeworthy and are such an embarrassment to music. They're such an insult to those with refined taste and an appreciation of real music.)
(Marilyn Manson stated to an audience during an awards ceremony a few years ago, that there's a very serious crisis happening in the mainstream music industry at the moment. MM pointed-out that the mainstream music industry has been raped of creative and artistic people. MM stated that lot of the mainstream music currently lacks uniqueness and is devoid of originality. Big record label companies also have a lot of responsibility for the decline in creative, artistic, and original music.)
George Michael was another artist who went to war with Sony after long legal battles and problems with the record label. Sony has been accused of killing-off creative artists;- I mean in the metophorical sense of the word. I think all the genuinely creative artists should get together and form their own artistic record label that will help to save creative music.
I've always liked George Michael's sensual singing voice - even though it's not the music genre I usually like to listen to. Some of his songs sound a little bit cheesy in Wham! which GM even admitted numerous times himself... but there's some interesting lyrics, beautiful singing, and originality found within his solo career.
Sadly David Bowie also died last year. Lemmy Kilmister has also died - which is another massive loss to music. Prince and George Michael are now dead too. All the most talented artists are dead, or are dying-off fast, like bright comets and the brightest shooting-stars in the sky burning-out their energy too soon... and I dread to think what type of appalling state the artistically-declining music industry will be like in 50 years from now.
R.I.P. George - and R.I.P. to great singers and artistic musicians. I wish Harry Styles and Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus were dead - as I'm sick of seeing them all the time in the mainstream media... instead of all the genuine stars and talented legends being dead, like Jim Morrison, George Michael, David Bowie, Prince, Jimmy Hendrix, Lemmy, Ronnie James Dio, etc.
