Hopefully, I'll finish "The Ring" today.
The third opera "Siegfried" ends with that ecstatic love scene between Siegfried and Brunhilde...All is happy.
Of course, the title of the fourth opera "Gotterdammerung" is a spoiler that it isn't going to last.
This thing is one of the handful of operas where"it isn't over until the fat lady sings" is taken from
Everything burns down at the end...
Part of Wagner's madness is he created some awful characters and for whatever reason, he thought they were the heroes.
