UB40 (very successful and popular reggae band in the UK and also popular in the tropical Caribbean Islands too.... West Indies absolutely love reggae music.) (My parents absolutely loved listening to UB40 all the time.) I remember going on camping holidays in the Dorset countryside, and there used to be a disco barn there by an outdoor swimming pool, and each evening everyone was dancing inside the summer campsite barn to UB40 and singing along to their songs, as UB40 ruled.
The band formed in Birmingham in the West Midlands of England.
A very popular and beautiful song about the Jamaican capital city of Kingston Town. The band have had more than 50 singles in the UK Singles Chart, and have also achieved considerable international success.
They have been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album four times, and in 1984 were nominated for the Brit Award for Best British Group. UB40 have sold over 70 million records worldwide.
Their hit singles include their debut "Food for Thought" and two Billboard Hot 100 number ones with "Red Red Wine" and "Can't Help Falling in Love". Both of these also topped the UK Singles Chart, as did the band's version of "I Got You Babe".
Their two most successful albums, Labour of Love (1983) and Promises and Lies (1993), reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. In the 1980s, UB40 and the English ska band Madness both spent 214 weeks on the UK singles charts over the course of the decade, holding the record for most weeks spent by a group in the 1980s UK singles charts.

A cover-version of Gregory Isaacs reggae classic 'Night Nurse' by Mick Hucknall in the band Simply Red, from Manchester, north-west England. I can't stand this singer though... but I liked this cover-version song.
Mick Hucknall sold over 50 million albums. Hucknall has been described as "one of the truly great blue-eyed soul singers".
The original version. He pronounces 'thirst' as 'tirst' just like Irish people, due to the Irish influence on the Jamaican rhotic accent.

Dizzee Rascal (he's got an East London Cockney accent as he's from East London and is a famous Cockney) - a cover version of the very popular UK track Dirty Cash originally by The Adventures of Stevie V.
There's a lot of truth in the lyrics about politicians, being caught-up and trapped in the rat race, the effigies of Thatcher and of Princess Diana, the book pages burning, whilst the crowd dances around the bonfire, etc, in the video.
'Let me take you down to London city.
Where the attitude's bad and the weather is shitty,
Everybody's on a paper chase,
It's one big rat race!!'
'City wide, north, east, west and the southside,
Everywhere I go there's a goon on the corner,
Guns and drugs cause the city's like a sauna...'
'So they spend money that they ain't made yet,
Spend their pay cheque in the West End of London at the weekend
Got no money by the end of the weekend,
But they don't care cause their life is a movie...'
'Now we're living in the days of the credit-crunch, but I can't have rats for lunch...'
Original Stevie V. version (without the rapover by Dizzee Rascal) (released 1990)
