Ed Aleyne Johnson (an electric violinist and a busker from England.

He hand-made his own electric violin using a kitchen knife whilst he was an art student at university, and attached his own pedals and adjustments to create the unique sounds.

He frequently busks in towns all over the UK playing tracks by Led Zeppelin, Guns N Roses, Metallica, Black Sabbath, etc, on his electric violin.

Vanessa Mae (a Singaporean-born British violinist with album sales reaching several million.)

She was born in Singapore, but was adopted by a British family and raised in England.

She was initially banned from skiing by the International Ski Federation (FIS) after participating in a qualifying race allegedly organised to enable her to qualify for the Winter Olympics. An appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport led to the ban being nullified, citing lack of evidence for her own wrongdoing or any manipulation. The FIS later issued an apology to her.

Opera on Sunday... "Amadeus" is a great film. However, the idea of Mozart being poisoned by his main rival had been around since just after his death. The main bit of "clever" is not original.

Rimsky Korsakov based this opera on a Pushkin play from 1830.
