My opinion and I have read A LOT and own over 5,000 dollars in books on this war.
1.German especially Waffen SS first five divisions. Fallschirmjager best specialized troops.
2. Soviet armies after 1943. 2nd Guards Tank Army , 13th Guards Rifle,
and Naval Infantry among best.
3.Finns had the best Infantry of the war period.
4.British Commandos and Marines
5. Americans after 1943 but the 101st, 82nd Airborne were among the best of any armies. I know the grandson of a German paratrooper and he faced everybody and said the 101st and 82nd were the best he faced. Even better than the SAS he fought in North Africa.
6.Japanese

?? 20 million Soviets died. Germany started it and lost. The Japs resorted to suicide attacks. Brits were great but a small Army. USA lost 500K and won the war in short order.
