Do you regard German as an ugly language?

The reputation of the German language is not the best one. It is often regarded as ugly and difficult to learn.

I have got the impression that is because a lot of people have no positive associations with the German language. Therefore, I will post a small selection of sung and recited German in order to get a more balanced impression.

I think it's the least ugly of the Germanic languages, English aside as it isn't a true Germanic tongue.

I think German is a beautiful language. And to me it was quite easy to learn, I've always found it close to my mother tongue Swedish.

What are your reasons for that impression?

Well, it's a close one, because German can also sound nice, it depends on the context. What gets me is the guttural tones, which although they can be nice can also imo be someone grating to the ear. Another aspect is the difficulty of the sounds, which though I've forgotten now (the alphabet) struck me at the time at least to be not very easyflowing from a linguistic perspective. It's all subjective
