Well, it's a close one, because German can also sound nice, it depends on the context. What gets me is the guttural tones, which although they can be nice can also imo be someone grating to the ear.

Another aspect is the difficulty of the sounds, which though I've forgotten now (the alphabet) struck me at the time at least to be not very easyflowing from a linguistic perspective.

The pronounciation of the "r" depends on the dialect.

It sounds alright, only thing that i sometimes find amusing is occasionally very long words for things that don't need very long words, other than that it's quite nice.

I think it's the least ugly of the Germanic languages, English aside as it isn't a true Germanic tongue.

Dutch is very ugly.

Linguists disagree. And Dutch looks funny when it is spelt, although it sounds ok when spoken. Sometimes German sounds a bit convoluted where as Dutch doesn't seem to have that problem as much.

Yes, exactly. I had trouble with some sounds when combined in words also.
