Bus bomb blast kills 11 women in southwest Pakistan

At least eleven women have been killed and several others injured when an explosion tore through a women's university bus in the troubled southwest Pakistan.


The blast took place at about 3:00 p.m. local time (1000 GMT) inside Bahadur Khan Women University in the Baruri area of Quetta, situated 690 kilometers (428 miles) southwest of Islamabad, on Saturday.

"It was an improvised explosive device placed in the women’s university bus," city police chief Zubair Mahmood said, adding that at least 22 people were also injured in the attack.

The bomb exploded after the girl students had boarded, and the bus was leaving the university.
