    Sugar and Cinnamon Apples

    A lovely dessert, served with cream or ice cream!



    Ingredients:

    6 Granny Smith apples
    1/4 cup sugar (white or brown)
    1/4 cup margarine/butter
    1 tablespoon cinnamon


    Instructions:

    1. Peel the apples, cut them in half and slice them thinly

    2. Melt the butter/margarine in a pot and add the sugar and cinnamon.

    3. Add the sliced apples to this mixture

    4. Boil on medium heat until the apples are soft (about 15 minutes)

    Default Kazimiera's Insomnia Cure

    Kazimiera's Insomnia Cure

    Not only is this a lovely mix of spices, but it has the added benefit of lulling you to sleep.

    Ingredients:

    1 cup of warm milk
    1 teaspoon of honey
    1/2 teaspoon powdered cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon powdered turmeric
    1/4 teaspoon powdered nutmeg
    1/4 ground black pepper

    Instructions:

    Warm up the milk in a pot or simply microwave it in a cup. Add all the dry ingredients and lastly put in the honey and stir well.

    ENJOY and GOODNIGHT!

    Default Malva pudding

    Malva pudding



    Malva pudding is a traditional South African baked pudding. It is eaten warm.

    Pudding Ingredients

    30ml butter or margarine
    125ml sugar
    1 egg
    15ml apricot jam
    5ml bicarbonate of soda
    125ml milk
    250ml flour
    15ml vinegar


    Sauce Ingredients

    125ml butter or margarine
    185ml sugar
    65ml water
    185ml cream
    5ml vanilla essence


    Instructions for the Pudding

    1. Mix the butter and sugar together until it is light and creamy.

    2. Add the apricot jam.

    3. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in the milk.

    4. Sift the flour and add the butter/margarine mixture.

    5. Stir in the vinegar last.

    6. Pour into a round (or square) approx. 20cm diameter dish. Cover it with foil and bake for 1 hour at 180 degrees Celcius.


    Instructions for the Sauce

    1. Mix butter, water and sugar. Bring it to boil for 2 minutes.

    2. When the pudding is baked, pour this mixture over the pudding. You can poke small holes into the pudding so that it absorbs the sauce better.

    3. It can be served with whipped cream or ice cream.

    Vinegar Pudding (Asynpoeding)



    Vinegar pudding is a traditional South African pudding. In spite of the vinegar it has a lovely sweet/sour taste.

    Ingredients

    4 tablespoons apricot jam
    4 teaspoons butter
    1/2 cup milk
    3 teaspoons bicarbonate of soda
    2 eggs
    2 cups self-raising flour
    1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    1 teaspoon ground ginger


    Ingredients for Sauce

    4 cups water
    2 cups sugar
    1 cup vinegar


    Instructions for the Pudding

    1. Melt the butter and apricot jam together

    2. Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in the milk.

    3. Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl and add the wet ingredients. Stir.

    4. 6. Pour into a round (or square) approx. 20cm diameter dish.


    Instructions for the Sauce

    1. Mix the sugar, water and vinegar into a pot and boil for 2 minutes.

    2. Pour half of the mixture carefully over the pudding mixture.


    Bake the pudding in the oven at 180 degrees Celcius for 20 minutes. Take it out and pour the rest of the sauce over. Bake for another 25 minutes. It can be served with cream or ice cream.
