Under normal circumstances I would expect Italy and Iberia to be the happiest,but I guess the economic crisis has done it's worst. Scotland seems happiest, maybe I should move there.

both of which are very well off areas with low crime rates, to be happier than places in the north and Scotland, which can be quite poverty stricken. I guess money doesn't make people that happy then..

Scotland has lower Unemployment & Youth Employment than England. Whilst having lower tax & better Public service. Doubt many areas would beat our East Coast economically. Glasgow & some South West on the other hand..

Scottish crime is at it's lowest levels since 1974.

Not what I excpected. There is a general myth here in the north that Iberians/Italians can "loosen up" and have fun way easier than us stiff Northerners. But it doesn't seem to be true.
