Default EDL claims it has Muslims' support.

THE English Defence League last night claimed it had been swamped with messages of support from all races.

And the masked men also said followers of Islam had contacted the EDL after the group produced a video proclaiming it is “anti-fascist”.

The EDL, which claims it is defending British values against Muslim extremism, received hundreds of new registrations and postings on its website.
Yesterday the Daily Star revealed exclusive photos of the group’s swastika-burning video, which was its response to critics who say the organisation’s true motives can be compared to the Nazis.

The EDL said its campaign is only against hate-preaching fanatics, terrorists and Sharia Law.
It says it has wrongly been linked with the far-right and BNP and only calls for integration. It said moderate Muslims were welcome in the country.

An EDL spokesman said: “The article about our activities has produced an amazing response.

“We’ve had Sikhs, Hindus, black people, Jews and even Muslims contacting us.
“Quite a few said they had gone on to our website for the first time and, after reading our views and aims, realised they previously had the wrong impression about us.
“They saw we want peaceful protest against extremism and said they agree with what we stand for.
“Many seemed pleased that they’d found someone who stood up for what they feel.”

Meanwhile, it emerged that a Scottish Defence League and a Welsh Defence League have also been formed.

And new plans were being made yesterday for EDL demonstrations in Stoke and Oldham to add to the six already arranged across the country for the coming months.

On the EDL website, one Libyan-born Muslim who converted to Christianity in 2006 claimed he had been attacked for expressing his views on Islam while in a British immigrant detention centre. He said he had hospital records to prove it.

The EDL spokesman said: “That’s the sort of intolerance we are campaigning against.
“We agree with people having their own religions but they should accept others and fully integrate into the UK.”

But last night Unite Against Fascism dismissed the EDL’s claims.
A spokesman said: “We don’t believe their claims.
“They go to multi-racial areas in an attempt to provoke a response.
“The EDL is looking for an excuse, which they say is silencing extremists and stopping terrorists.”

They don't know their arse from their elbows. God help us. We actually can't even raise a decent activist group.

Yes, a bit depressing. My best hope is we'll eventually get a new cadre of young activists who cut their 'socially aware' teeth in the EDL, but moved on to better things.

I don't think it sounds like a bad organization. Sure, they don't distinguish between Briton and African but at least they're against these Muslim extremists attempting to alter British culture. If the BNP became the dominant party in Britain I think we'd all be quite pleased, but as of now the lefties are winning by using the fear of being labeled a racist to deter support of the party. A group that fights against these Muslim fanatics that more people are willing to support is a good thing.
