Cereal production: U.S. experts expect more than 30 percent growth in Russia
U.S. agricultural experts expect this year with a growth of the grain harvest in Russia by 34 percent to 95 million tons.
This was announced by the Agricultural Attaché of the Foreign Agricultural Service of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Levin Flake, on Thursday in the Black Sea city of Sochi in the International Grain Forum Global Grain Sochi.
According to him, the Russian grain export in the new agricultural season (July 2013-June 2014) is expected to rise from 15.5 to 24 million tons.
According to the expert should be harvested compared to 37,7 million tons last year, this year in Russia a total of 54 million tons of wheat. The forecast for corn is 9.5 million tons (compared to 8.213 million tonnes in the previous year), 17.5 million tons of barley (compared to 13.952 million tons in 2012), for sunflower 8.9 million tonnes (7.959 million tons in 2012) and for soybeans 2.2 million tonnes (1.88 million tons in 2012).
The calculated total yield of all crops should be at about 95 million tons, according to Flake. "Grain exports will amount to an estimated 24 million tons in this case," said the expert.
The presented Flake overall prognosis is consistent with that of the Russian Agriculture Ministry, which expects the grain harvest of 70.9 million tons last year to 95 million tons this year.
