Gazprom: Turkey soon dethroned Germany as the largest buyer of Russian gas
MOSCOW, 28 June (RIA Novosti).
Turkey is just about to overtake Germany as the head of the largest importers of Russian gas. This was announced by the head of the Russian energy giant Gazprom, Alexei Miller, said Friday.
The deliveries to Turkey could soon grow by a fifth to 30 billion cubic meters, Miller said at a news conference in Moscow. "Turkey can ascend to the next time the largest importer and replace Germany."
Last year, Gazprom has delivered 138.8 billion cubic meters of gas to Europe, 7.5 percent less than in 2011. Exports to the Federal Republic declined by 0.1 percent to 33.16 billion cubic meters. This year Gazprom plans to sell a total of more than 160 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe and Turkey.
