    It depends what you mean by their closeness. In terms of culture: likely Romance, when it comes to genetics: even, maybe Slavs a bit closer if you count South Italians and Iberians.

    I'd go with Celtic for Tr00 closest.

    Based on the options given I'd say both groups have equal amounts of differences and whatever similarities can be found to choose one over the other based on language, culture and genes.

    I'm assuming this thread is about linguistics, since Germanic people don't cluster genetically? Polish people are genetically closer to Swedes than Austrians.

    ''Slavic'', ''Germanic'' and ''Romance'' as words are paninclusive categories with people with many different ethno-linguistic-cultural backgrounds, so it's a very difficult answer.
    It depends which slavic and wich romanic people...for the slavic, i would say Czech and some Poles without any doubt...for the romance, walloons, oil (norther) french and probabily the forlans (a northeastern italic population).

    It's hard but as a whole Slavic Europe, however I think that France is the country with the most Germanic input.

    Language:
    Slavic = Satem IE language
    Germanic = Kentum IE language
    Italic=Kentum IE language

    Genetics
    There's probably more autosomal genetic overlap with western most Slavs and eastern most Germans then say Slavic autosomal overlap on NE Italians and Germanic on Italians in general.

    French probably have the most Germanic autosomal influence compared to any other Romance speaking group.

    Culture
    Again, probably significanat East German west Slavic cultural overlap but relatively negligible IMO for Italy in general. French seem to have distanced themselves from Germanic cultural similarities over the years.

    I usually view all three of these meta-groups as pretty distinctive/unique despite whatever shared stratas they may share or have shared. Then again we're comparing meta-groups to meta-groups here which is already too much of an over generalization.
