Do modern Macedonians have some Ancient Macedonian ancestry?

They have some Original Balkan ( Macedonians being one type) ancestry of Coarse.

No more than Assad has Assyrian ancestry (him being a Syrian)

We would have some Ancient Macedonian blood in us, mostly in people of the Southern towns like Ohrid, Gevgelija and Bitola. There are Ancient Macedonian archeological remains, one notable place is the ancient city of Heraclea which is in Bitola.

Other then possible blood ties, we don't have much more in common.

I agree with Vojnik. The southern Macedonians have genetic link to the ancient Macedonians, but NOT cultural or linguistic one. I can compare the relation of the southern Macedonians to ancient Macedonians with the relation between Bulgarian and Thracians (genetic link but not linguistic or cultural). However the majority of the presentday Macedonians are ansestors of the Peonians (Thracians), just like the Bulgarians.
Bulgarians and Macedonians have direct genetic, cultural and linguistic link to the people, inhabiting the Bulgarian empires in the middle ages. Those people were known as Bulgarians. The Bulgarians from the middle ages formed as ethnicity within the Bulgarian empire mainly from three groups: southeastern Slavs, Bulgars and Thracians (and other Balkanian people like Macedonians).

The albanians of Macedonia immigrated in the last hundred years ..Don't forget that albanians have caucasian roots And of course we have ancient macedonian ancestry. However the north of Macedonia is really mixed up ,but southern Macedonia is really "clean".
