Well, my surname is anglicised....So it literally could be either. There is a Gaelic explanation and a Germanic one for the name, both different meanings.

In old English (germanic), it would mean something like Cool lake or Cold lake.

So, your ethnicity is English or Irish?

English obviously, i said my surname was Anglicized. My surname isn't McSomething or O'Something, so it's not obviously Celtic, i was just discussing it with Uhtred jokingly. It's very English sounding though, but it's origin could be germanic or celtic.

Edit: Just because someone is Germanic in England, doesn't necessarily make them an anglo-saxon. Normans and Wikings landed too. Haplogroup I2 can literally come with any of these, but reaches its highest frequency in North Germany/South Denmark (i2b1, the nomenclature has changed now though as fire haired mentioned to me). Which is exactly where the ASJ's came from. So there's a good chance, but i'd need deeper clade testing.

Thomas is the Greek form of the Aramaic name תָּאוֹמָא (Ta'oma') which meant "twin". In the New Testament this is the name of the apostle who initially doubted the resurrected Jesus. According to tradition he was martyred in India. Due to his renown, the name came into general use in the Christian world.

    PRONOUNCED: TAHM-əs (English), TOM-əs (English), to-MAH (French), TO-mahs (German, Dutch), tho-MAHS (Greek)
    5 Stages of Grief:

Denial: The initial stage: "It can't be happening." Maniot is on top of me.
Anger: "Why ME? It's not fair?!" (either referring to God, oneself, or Maniot perceived, rightly or wrongly, as "responsible")
Bargaining: "Just let me stay to post another day Maniot, please."
Depression: "I'm so sad, why are you picking on me Maniot?"
Acceptance: "It's going to be OK." There is always Skadi.
