Default Iraq hit by series of car bombs

Separate car bombings in three southern cities have killed at least 10 people and wounded dozens, officials say.

A twin car bomb blast in the southern city of Amara has killed at least four civilians and wounded 42 others.

The two car bombs exploded within an interval of 10 minutes on Tuesday, in a commercial area of the city located 300km south of Baghdad.

"The blast was very powerful and it caused massive damage to the parking lot and cars. It was a double blast and all the people rushed to the scene and this shows that they do not learn from previous blasts," said a resident of the area.

In a separate attack, two car bombs went off in a parking lot in the city of Iskanadariyah, killing three and wounding 18 others.

A third car bomb detonated near a power plant in the southern city of Nasiriyah, killing three civilians and wounding 21.

Three medical officials confirmed the causality figures.

All officials spoke on condition of anonymity as they were not authorised to release the information.

More than 3,000 people have died in violence across Iraq in the last six months.

So sad the country has been ruined. It seems there is indeed no hope for democracy. Disappointing to see such a great nation gone.

There was never anything great about that country, during Saddam era it was anyone expect Sunni Arabs persecuted and killed. Now it's a full blown Shia - Sunni civil war similar to Syria. It's the incompetence of the people there to live in democracy. Mainly because they are under heavy influence from outside (Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia).

Iraq before the Saddam era and before was a great nation in the region.

I agree, but that's myth there was many Shias in high position with Saddam that people seem to forget that portion, the guy was secular dictator he really did not care about anything and he was some what of nationalist and even a racist to a degree. True sadly true, very very disappointing, I am not disagreeing because what you said is true, except for the first part.
