Bulgarians are primarily balkan, both genetically and culturally, and they are just slavcizied natives(with small admixture). Personally, they are much more closer to Albanians and Greeks than to Poles or Russians.

There is some difference between the south and north and I wonder where isn't any, but certainly not big difference. Now, regarding your post I don't know what you meant by surroundings, but people from Dubrovnik and the 'surroundings' are the same all the way to Lika, phenotipically and genetically from what I have seen. All major regions are somewhat different phenotipically and genetically, but still relatively close so I wouldn't say that in one part of it people are different than in the rest of the country not to mention if you didn't include the rest of southern Croatia by saying surroundings since as I have said they are similar all the way to Lika.
