    Movie: Herkas Mantas

Herkus Monte(also Hercus, Lithuanian:Herkus Mantas, Latin:Henricus Montemin) was the most famous leader of theGreat Prussian Uprising against theTeutonic Knights and Northern Crusaders. The uprising began in September 1260, following the Knights' defeat at the Battle of Durbe, and lasted for the next fourteen years.
The Chronicon terrae Prussiae stated that Herkus was originally from Natangia, one of the lands of the Old Prussians. The Prussians were the first of the Baltic tribes to be conquered by the Teutonic Knights, who first arrived in Chełmno in 1226 at the request of Konrad I of Masovia, whose own struggle with the Prussians had proved unsuccessful. As part of the Northern Crusades, the Knights proceeded to attack the Prussians with the purported aim of converting them to Christianity.

Lithuanian Film Studio released a move Herkus Mantas (1972) to commemorate the great Prussian leader. The movie received positive reviews from the viewers.

Yeah, the asshole who "invited" the Teutonic knights was a Polish prince (a national shame). Apologies to Lithuanians and now non existent great folks of Baltic Prussians. We are sorry about that!

Carrying on with the medieval theme:

"KING MINDAUGAS" (lt. "Valdžia"), ENGLISH SUBTITLES
[TO TURN THE ENGLISH SUBTITLES ON/OFF GO FULL SCREEN & PRESS CC]

Psychological costume drama about the life of Medieval Lithuanian king Mindaugas based on a play by Latvian dramaturgist Mārtiņš Zīverts. The action takes place in Mindaugas' castle Voruta on an Autumn evening in 1263. Zīverts was from Semigallia, born just a few miles away from the Lithuanian border. It's interesting that many Latvians feel a connection to the Grand Dutchy of Lithuania, Latgalians from Aglona are even building a statue for king Mindaugas - that's an innitiative of ethnic Latgalians, not of Lithuanian diaspora.

This ecranisation of Zivert's play is a very typical example of Lithuanian theatre, it features some of the most prominent Lithuanian actors.

Back to the Baltic Prussian theme:

"ROMANCE IN THE DUNES" (lt. "Moteris ir keturi jos vyrai"), ENGLISH SUBTITLES
[TO TURN THE ENGLISH SUBTITLES ON/OFF GO FULL SCREEN & PRESS CC]

Psychological costume drama about the life in Kleinlitauen / Preußisch-Litauen region of the 19th century East Prussia. The script is based on Holger Drachmann's novel "Romance in the dunes". The director of this film was Algimantas Puipa. All people in this movie are wearing the authentic costumes from that time period, some of the actors are of Prussian-Lithuanian background.

It would be really nice, if you could create a similar thread for the films & documentaries from your home country. I'm not saying that you should scour the net to find some films to share here, but if you do happen to stumble upon some stuff that's worth watching by chance - do post it.

Perhaps, but what does it have to do with the Baltic people? This thread is in a subforum about Balts.
