It's common at the pantomime shows, for men to dress as women. As perfectly normal .

I think it has to do with the pressure society puts on men (high responsabilities for instance) so some men want to escape that by crossing the gender line. Of course, there are probably several reasons, like some guys being real sissies (more than women are).
What I noticed is quite a lot of transwomen keep dating women after and they still do their manly activities (hunting, fishing, workouts, car stuff...).
What I've never understood is the fixation they have on the vagina. They want it so bad they'll butcher their penis to have a whole too. And at the end of the day, most won't use their fake vagina sexually.
Doesn't make any sense.

I think it's because the men simply won't admit there gay.

Most male born trans women now and days don't get SRS before it was required that we conform to extremely ridged female norms for up to two years before we could get anti-androgens and estrogen and after that we had to get SRS to have gendermarkers on documentation.
Ofcourse some really do just want an SRS to validate their percieved gender identity but I don't agree, no piece of flesh can dictate or validate legitimate ideas of self. Some states and nations though require it and having gender markers on papers that don't match your look and behavior is dangerous.
Then again I was raised without gender barriers for the most part, I am the youngest of four boys (the others being very heteronormative and butch) who did boxing, military, mechanics, etc... so I had some cushioning others may not had and was allowed to fall between the cracks and therefore never really had the self-hate others accumulate as they develop nor believe fixed ideals of what a particular gender encompasses.
It's really complicated basically.
