    Default Genetic/Ancestral Memory

What does everyone think on the topic of genetic/ancestral memory? Have been reading about those with Savant Syndrome and am interested to hear some opinions.

It's something I've been extremely interested in for a long time, unfortunately we lack sufficient evidence to prove it true at the current moment. I've also come up with several theories based upon this however.

Is an interesting idea, have no idea of it's actuality.

Wow great topic. I would like to believe in it, though haven't read all that much.

It would explain some vague visual memories I have and never remember experiencing, but I'm skeptical toward this idea and so appears to be the scientific community.

Epigenetics are something very similar to that. You can get PTSD if your mother has it while you were in the room, and in turn pass it to your own children.

Yeah, you're getting into parapsychological territory there, difficult to test!

I really do want to believe it, but I can only go off personal family experience. We've got a really big immediate family who were all born here, and who all live in one of the hottest, dryest parts of the country where we get maybe 20" of rain a year, and it regularly tops 40°C, completely flat, red dirt, very arid, and there's this ingrained aversion that we have to the sun, none of us like the beach, and we really, reaaaally struggle with the heat. I've always joked that it's some sort of ancestral memory telling us that we're too Euro to be living in such an extreme place lol.

Oh my god, you live in the outback?! Your family must go through vats of sunscreen per week!

But anyway, isn't epigenetics essentially ancestral memory? That your experiences pass on genetic "suggestions" to your children?
