I decided to dump my girlfriend because she is not excited by my ancestry. Anyone experience this?

I think that you obviously have a bigger reason to break up with her, that she doesn't want kids for instance, and are using this as an excuse?

In my experience, to generalise, girls are far less into this sort of thing than guys (but it depends on the individual) so I wouldn't let her lack of interest in your hobby be the only reason to break up with her.

Dude, how do you think England was formed exactly? You need to crack open a history book at some point, angle saxons and jutes are ALL vikings! An angle IS a viking. That's who settled england and makes up the majority of DNA. Northumbria is where you'd expect to see someone like him, though.

I never considered it a negative thing, but while I enjoy English history it doesn't mean much when you have no idea what place your ancestors had. Chances are it would be some serf starving at the edge of the forest if you chose a random english ancestor to be yours. It's not like I learned that I am the son of william the conqueror or anything but it's better than being some slave. For all I knew he could have come to england from somewhere else not long before that.

Although I heard about other aspects of my ancestry in depth I knew little of this.
