Default Which countries make up Southern Europe?

This issue has been discussed several times, about the countries that make up this region both culturally and geographicaly, as many accept that the southern european countries are the ones that lie nearby the Mediterrean Sea.

However, several sources and maps do not agree with each other on the composition of this region, as some prefer to label only certain countries as the components of this region, whilst others prefer to enlargen their list with some other countries.

Southern Europe is originally considered to be Spain, Portugal, Greece, Malta, Andorra and Italy, but it might consider Albania, european Turkey, Montenegro, Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia,Slovenia, Cyprus and Croatia, some other sources even label Bulgaria as Southern Europe, but not quite sure.

I'm adding the poll, so you can give us your opinion, it's multiple choice.

    Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Malta.

    Cyprus is the Middle East.
And the rest should be considered "Balkan" or "SE European".

This is exactly how I feel; however, Turkey is culturally, and biologically different from other European nations, regardless of geographical position I do not consider a fraction of the country European, because something either is or is not European; in this case, it would fall into the not European category. On the other hand, I voted for all except Cyprus & Turkey, because not including them would limit Southern Europe to just five countries, not to say that the phrase 'South Eastern Europe' has the word 'South' inside of it. Finally, I would have included Occita on the poll had it been an option, due to prolonged Roman rule of the area and closeness to both Italy and Spain both geographically & linguistically; at least it once was before the Atomic Age & mass immigration to Europe.

I didn't mean to make it sound like Turkey is European. I wouldn't include any of Turkey as Europe.

Southern Europe makes sense only geographically, and it is the three peninsulas - Iberian, Apeninean and Balkan.

I don't understand why people try to put economic and political sense in this geographical term...
