Which countries make up Southern Europe?

I consider them Western not Southern but that's just me. You could break it up by phenotypes, geography, culture, etc.

Greece is Balkans. Countries like FYROM, Albania, Bulgaria have much more in common with Greece than Italy, Spain, etc.

In that case southeastern Europe also goes under southern Europe. No need to label it into southeastern vs southern as Sikeliot would do.

Although I wrote just a few moments ago that when classifying countries (which I think also applies to people), they either are or are not European*; this does not apply to sub-divisions within Europe. I believe that Spain is both inside of Western & Southern Europe, while the northern part of Italy is in Central Europe, Greece is in Eastern Europe, extreme-northern Germany to be part of Northern Europe, among many other classifications (including what I said earlier about the Occitan part of France.

* For example, I consider Russia to be an European country, because although it is the largest country as well as one of the most natively diverse, it's capital and dominant culture are European and has historically been an European country founded in European soil.

I don't understand Europe's need to divide itself into all these super small regions. Eventually you just end up splitting hairs.
