Slavic(?) last name Gerotski in my family tree

Hi,
I thought this might be a good forum to ask about this, many slavs potentially with maybe good information.
I managed to find the parents to one of my ancestors named Schultz in Uppsala, Sweden. He was born 1736.

Anyways, his mother was called Anna Maria Gerotski. The surname is also written in forms Gerotsch, Gerotskii, Gerotzie, Gerokie in the sources.

1) Is this a Slavic surname?
2) Where could it be from?

Google doesn't really give any clue in terms of its origins. The Schultz's in Sweden were probably originally from Germany.

PS. I'm Finnish. The ancestor in question moved to Finland.

Tough...couldn't find anything on Gerotski/Gerodzki/Gerocki. If it's really important you may want to contact this guy: henryk.martenka@angora.com.pl, he got also blog in Polish - nazwisko.blogspot.com.

Does the name sound like it could be Polish or something completely different to you?
There is this guy in Wiki but no idea about his ancestry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Geroski
Could it even be Jewish?

Yes, definitely it sounds Polish. The problem is it's "distorted" as we are talking about emigrants here - the original Polish surname could be e.g. Gerowski, Gerodzki, Gerocki, Grodzki, Gorecki etc. I have found one: http://records.ancestry.com/Frank_Ge...?pid=176240853 - Frank Geroski born in Poland to Vincent Grocki...so even father-son surnames don't match:-)
