    It's more pronounced, because the Irish names, are found more commonly in working class areas of English cities. Where you find the footballers.

    There's a few Scots surnames in that group also, like Henderson, Shaw, Johnstone, McEachran & Carrick.

    But that is just a representative of Modern England.

    Isn't that pretty much the same in all the British isles though? Smith is of English origin yet its the number one surname in Scotland and very prominent in Ireland.
