This is interesting because it picks up on something i had thought some time earlier...The nature of my Dad apparently having the Middle-eastern genes in my family, but below average East Med/Near Eastern led me initially to believe there might be some distant North African ancestry somewhere on his side, which seems possible. It could just be that he takes after the side of the family that doesn't have this ancestry (his mother), as he definitely does take after her both physically and mentally. But i think it couldn't be more than 6%. Only sure way to know is to test his parents and his sister, but it throws an interesting perspective anyway. His 'base' comes out even more Anglian in this as well, which is interesting too although less important.

This is spot on compared with her others (even as a phased profile), and picks up clearly on the Georgian. Her high South Baltic is again quite interesting. I'm thinking there is two possibilities for this:
1) She has a very southern British base (closeness to Dutch, Germans, Cornish, Austrians but not to Scottish, Danish, Norwegians or Swedes) plus maybe 6-12% Georgian/Caucasian ancestry.
2) She has a central 'average' or central-western British base with a bit of German, French(?) (or Austrian(?) (relative finder)) ancestry as well as 6% or so Georgian ancestry.
A southern British base with a pull to the west (Wales, Scotland) would make sense genaeologically.
In any case my family don't seem to be average joes, and i think i'll have to start investigating this even more soon.
Hats off to Polako/David for making an extremely useful tool.

Interestingly here is my Paternal Phased file for Eurogenes K=12:
South Asian 0.39%
Caucasus 1.72%
Southwest Asian 3.11%
North Amerindian + Arctic 0.48%
Siberian -
Mediterranean 14.45%
East Asian 0.13%
West African 0.37%
Volga-Ural 6.30%
South Baltic 11.77%
Western European 26.81%
North Sea 34.47%
Caucasus is even further below average, and small amounts of African show up even more clearly. And of course there's the Mediterranean and South-west Asian again (both of which are very high in North Africans looking at the maps on the Eurogenes blog page for K=12)
Might be on to something.
I'll stop posting so much now, just thought it might be interesting to share.

Ye're about right with regards to my ancestry. I'm a bit over 3/4ths derived from the British Isles, the remainder is German with a wee bit of Portuguese (Ancestry Finder & Relative Finder seem to think some distant Russian in there too but those matches in Russia&Ukraine have German surnames on their profile so it's probably a common link via Germany).
As for the results makin' sense, I think its a fair approximation given that I've got a primary pull from the NW of Europe (via the UK) with the German pullin' me a bit east and the minor Portuguese pulling me a bit South. It doesn't help my case that my British Isle's background, though over 75% of my ancestral stock, is very diverse ranging from Yorkshire to as far Southwest as Somerset, then Ulster & Isle of Man, and South Wales. I'd think the results would be more stable if that portion of my background was from one region of the UK instead of little bits from all over the UK.

Got my results back for my Dad's parent's and my Mum's sister. Very interesting. Think i could have a dash of Italian on my Mum's side but probably nothing foreign (at least in recent years) on my Dad's side.
My mother's sister - It's surprising as her caucasus is within normal levels, maybe slightly on the high side, while my mother's is very high. Although it would make sense that my mother takes more after that ancestry, looking at them - Her sister is much fairer. I'll use EUtest as it gives a good overall view.
This is quite ironic, because it was always my Grandfather who was joked about having foreign ancestry, but he seems the most typical Englishman. He'll find that funny, if he can hear what we're saying that is =/. That Siberian also shows up more significantly on other calculators, so it might be pointing (along with the other components) at some Norwegian ancestry, although ancient or recent i don't know. Shows up at 0.26% in the K=12, which is not much - but it's always there. His mt-DNA turned out to be H1 - Fairly boring but i will run it through the mt-hap tool by James Lick later to see if more can be gleaned.
Edit: My grandfather's mt-DNA appears to be a group one mutation downstream of H1b4, i'll look up more about it in a minute, but 23&me says it is most common in Eastern Europe and the Baltic, interesting.
My Grandmother's makes sense too - She is half Cheshire half London in ancestry, so a slight western pull makes sense, although in other calculators as well she comes out North-Sea heavy still, so perhaps not a bastion of Celtic-ness =S. That French Basque being significantly closer than the others is interesting, although i don't know how likely that is, probably not very.
I'll make some more phased files for my Dad's side of the family later. Will make things even more complicated.
