Well, with the first part of my 23andme test in, I've been shown what hereditary recessive disease genes I've had passed down to me.
Unfortunately, I'm a carrier for Hemochromatosis, which is an Iron overload disease found in Northern Europeans (particularly those of Celtic descent).
Aside from my sadness about possibly passing on an illness to my kids (given that I forget to get my future partner tested), I decided to ask: what diseases are you guys carriers for, if any?
Furthermore, what populations are your diseases from? How common are carriers? (This can all be found in the "inherited conditions" part of health and traits on 23andme)
If a similar thread has been posted, I apologise. I couldn't find it![]()

I'm not talking about hereditory diseases, I'm talking about being a carrier for things like Cystic Fibrosis, Tay Sachs...![]()
I'm a carrier for hemochromatosis too, but it's not a bad thing for a woman. My husband is not a carrier so my girls should be OK.
