Scientific determination of eye/hair/skin pigmentation

I'm interested in scientifical techniques on pigmentation determination. Can someone tell me something about that?
I think someone already tried to do Spectrophotometric analysis on skin for example. Don't worry about technical language and stuff because I'm almost a chemistry technician(I'm doing the last school year) and so should understand easily everything. Links would be useful.

The closest thing i've seen to what you are asking were those 3 SNPs that were identified as being related to pigmentation. You can read more here:
