"The Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge," Fessenden & Co. - editors, 1st Edition printed by the Brattleboro Typographic Company, Brattleboro, Vermont, USA, 1837.
This was THE Big Book of knowledge for missionaries and other involved with the evangelical movement, which came out of New England in the early 19th century and tried to spread to the whole world. The present existence of American Universities and Hospitals is a vestige of this movement.

The oldest book I own is a children's book about the last ice age. Tessloff Verlag, year of print is 1979.It was given to me when I was a child by a relative who had it in his library.
Most probably, the oldest book my family owns is Hitler's Mein Kampf. Almost every household had a copy and less people just threw it away after the war.
