It is time now to make a sister-thread for the Estonia before WW2 thread.A few old pictures from the post-war Estonia.
A Stalinistic propaganda photo: collective farmers are transporting some corn to govermnent, August 1949, Western-Estonia.
But photos like these were never published in Soviet Estonian magazines or newspapers: forest brothers. The guerrilla war of the forest brothers lasted until mid-1950s.
Some photos from the book "Soviet Estonia 1940-1955"

Very typical houses from the early 60ies.
Estonians call them khrushchyovkas (hrutovkad) , named after Nikita Khrushchyov. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khrushchyovka. Btw, in fact this term in not so exact because Khrushchyovkas in Estonia look different than elsewhere in former USSR, their design is more Estonianlike. Maybe we should call them "käbinovkas" after the long time (1950-1978) party leader of Soviet Estonia Johannes Käbin?
No Audis, no BMWs but ...
Lenins, meetings and quotations from comrade Brezhnev in formal life
and not in real life
But in fact all you need is ...milk

All honor to the Forest Brothers and the rest of Estonia, who fought the Bolsheviks for as long as they did.

I“d like to continue this thread about genre painting of Estonian history.
I found a Soviet time documentary about a state farmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sovkhoz in South-East Estonian uplands.
Well, it may be boring,it is also pretty longbut the watching of it is not compulsary
The film is made to celebrate this state farm“s 25th anniversary in December 1983. It is in Estonian only, but the text isn“t (very) informative. But reflects so very well the life, Soviet Estonia-style conjuncture, houses, clothing, interior, people etc etc.Everything is so very typical...
For me it is nostalgic because resembles me so very much my childhood“s conjuncture in an other collective farm village where I grew up.
