One thing i've noticed looking at the new spreadsheet, and my father's side, is that my father, myself, my grandfather all seem to be a couple of percent higher on Eastern Mediterranean than average, and my Grandmother is the source of the 'Red Sea' middle eastern component but has practically no 'East Med'. Although our West Med does seem comparatively lower, so overall the Mediterranean amount is about normal. Hopefully GEDmatch will be up again soon, interesting to see what the new Oracle says with the new reference populations for K13 and K15.

What did you get before? Would not be surprised to see North Dutch in there for the English. Outside of the Isles. That area is probably closest to what I'd think of the English people.

I usually get Dutch or German, then SE English because i'm less NW European than the majority of British Islanders. Although looking at these regional ones, it's more useful. I think my Grandmother will remain very close to SW English, as she has more West Med and low Baltic. My Grandfather and Father might be quite similar to north Dutch, but they have more east Med. My mum probably closest to South Dutch, and my aunt probably closest to SE English. But we will have to wait for GEDmatch to be up again in order to find out. With a brief look over the averages north Dutch should be the closest match for both of them, or a couple down the list maybe. But it will probably say something like 95% north Dutch +5% Syrian due to the higher East Med, or 70% Irish 30% Bulgarian or something along those lines. Will be interesting to see what Quoteablepatella on ABF gets as well, as his family is primarily from the NW if i remember correctly, and quite northern genetically.
I kinda think some central and northern English samples would fill in the gap between the southern English and the northern British (Scots, Irish, Orcadians) and Danes/north Dutch/north Germans. You can clearly see the French-like influence in southern England, western Germany and the southern Netherlands, fits with the higher U152 in those areas by comparison to the more northern areas in NW Europe.
To be honest in terms of ancient admixture, it makes quite a lot of sense. I would expect the Romano-Britons to be between the northern British and the French, as they had some Gallic influence and were also part of the Roman Empire. And also given that there's an argument for saying some amount of the Anglo-Saxons came from more southern areas, plus Frankish inflluence, our position between the northern and southern Dutch but shifted to the west makes perfect logical sense. It also makes geographic sense. Although it'd be nice to see some Bretons, Normans and Belgians in the plot too, i imagine they'd fill the gap between southern Britain and the French sample.
La Brana having a fairly even helping of all four northern European components in K15 is especially interesting. Also the fact that in genaeological terms he shares the msot ancestry with south-western Europeans and Basques, but in autosomal genetics he is closest to Finns and Swedes. That kind of suggests that these components spanned quite vast areas, as they do today i suppose, but i guess even further - especially as Baltic is one of the primary components in Ma'lta as well.

Wow that is quite interesting that La Brana-1 scores pretty high in the Baltic, North_Sea, Atlantic and even East_Euro components.
