Well if I was an atheist and was Christopher Hitchens I'd hedge my bets by giving allegiance to aliens so as perhaps they afford me resurrection in the above realm if there is one for my intellect. That seems like a much better bet from a realists point of view, not giving it to some human-god figure that we dreamed up as a species.
